Graffiti can be found in all kinds of unexpected places around the city. The works are perceived as idle moaning by some people, but for others, they are an expression of their pressures. Despite their eye-catching appearance, graffiti works cannot escape being cleaned up. Over time, layers of paint obscure these words and images. Hong Kong photographer Chan Dick traveled around various districts to track down and photograph these almost invisible graffiti marks. Behind every covered graffiti there is the author’s thought, and every trace of brushstroke is engraved with the imprint of the city.

"I SEE" is photographer Chan Dick's first self-published and printed photo album, which was prepared several years ago. The walls photographed in the work are all filled with paint. Some of the paint appears extremely pale, while others are darker than ink, and most are in a grayish state between the two. Chen deliberately arranged his works from light to dark, reflecting the changes in the city's landscape through visual gradients. Although the main colors of the photo album are black, white, and gray, if you look carefully, you will occasionally see some traces of red, yellow, green, etc. paint. Therefore, the photographer chose to print the book in four colors plus spot colors, and the shades of each photo only differed by 5%, which required very high printing technology. In addition to sorting and coloring, the selection of paper, binding methods, packaging design, etc. are all carefully and meticulously considered by the photographer.
