Closing weekend of: “Looking for Poetry in Wanchai”

An installation of poetic calligraphy

by artist: Annie WAN Lai-kuen

Inspired by a poem by Li Bai the artist searches for the relief characters that form the lines “Modern people cannot see the ancient moon. But the modern moon had shone on ancient people”, taken from the poem. She finds the characters in the streetscape of Wanchai, transfers them into plaster relief tiles which she reassembles into the poetry’s lines, shown along with photographs depicting the original sites of the found characters.
